As the HR lead for a particular business unit, you are probably aware that the effectiveness of your managers depends on their level of engagement with their team.
Their success can be measured by what they are getting from their team. They have the right leadership skills to support each team member to ensure everyone performs at their best.
This means more buy-in from the team, which in turn leads to higher engagement and improved performance.
To increase engagement and create more buy-in, you need to help your managers tap into their talent to build powerful connections with their team members. Doing so creates alignment, ensuring everyone is moving in the same direction.
Does your organisation have the right managers with the appropriate skills in place to support and get the best out of their teams?
Some companies have a large proportion of inept managers who are more focused on doing the work and less concerned about supporting their team.
Others organisations are at the transactional level, where managers are often overwhelmed and struggle to support their team effectively.
However, some companies are at the effective level, where teams are performing well, and managers have a good understanding of how to manage and support their team.
A select few companies are at the transformational level, where managers actively engage their teams and tap into their potential.
Highly effective managers live in this space, and they positively impact others' lives in a way that each person remembers for years.
For you, in supporting these managers, it is important to evaluate where most of your managers fall.
Consider where they are on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being inept, and 10 being transformational.
Where would you put them? On the ten end, or is there a lot of work to do? Many of these managers are at the lower end of the scale.
