Here's the scoop: successful organisations need predictable performance.
Predictable performance means consistent and improving results, robust employee engagement scores, and people in the organisation working in alignment. It also means having more managers who focus on keeping things running smoothly and fewer frantic, crazy-busy types who constantly seem overwhelmed.
These managers, who keep things running smoothly, stand out as the ones who know how to manage their workload and create balance. They set priorities and ensure their team follows suit.
As a manager yourself, nailing predictable performance boils down to a couple of things:
First, you must build solid connections within your team so everyone's on the same page—no more siloed stuff.
Then, you have to clear your team's path, ensuring they know exactly what to do and why.
A question I often ask leaders of leaders is: How can they help their up-and-coming leaders shift from feeling overwhelmed to getting the right stuff done?
Predictable performance means your team is succeeding day in and day out. You can trust them to handle their work without you breathing down their necks. Instead, you get to focus on the big-picture stuff, leaving the nitty-gritty details to them.
The bottom line is there are some companies where everyone's drowning in work. It's like being busy is some kind of trophy. But let's be honest, that's not a good sign. It means there's too much on everyone's plate, and/or nobody knows what matters.
I've seen it many times: missed deadlines, frazzled employees, meetings turning into battlegrounds—you name it. It's a mess.
Some companies are doing it pretty well. Their teams are on point, and the workload is manageable. They may still be hustling, but it's a productive kind of hustle.
And then, there are the exceptional teams at the masterful level. This is where those unforgettable managers hang out. Their teams are firing on all cylinders, everything's flowing smoothly, and everyone's feeling energised.
Imagine: What if all your managers operated at that masterful level? How would that boost your game in the marketplace? And how would that change how you feel about your role?
It's what I call leader and team magic.
I'm currently running a nine-week Level Up Mastergroup coaching program designed for new managers and existing leaders who want to improve their leadership skills and create predictable performance. This program is for managers who may suffer from overwhelm, lack confidence in their ability to lead their team effectively, or simply want to level up their abilities.
If this is you, Click here to learn more and join the waitlist. The next 9-week program kicks off in July.
